Re: Places to test your bots against others

HI Jacek, Welcome to the forum. For Go, there is CGOS: http://www.yss-aya.com/cgos/ Shogi also has a similar server: http://wdoor.c.u-tokyo.ac.jp/shogi/index-e.html Ataxx used to have a server, but it looks broken at the moment: http://server.ataxx.org/ I also participate in codingame, and like it a...

Re: The 13th UEC Cup will take place on March 5-6 2022

Thanks Yamashita san for this information. I have just registered, and I am looking forward to participating again. Last year, there was a bug with adjourned games. It would be nice to fix it for this edition of the tournament, so that programs can reconnect and continue the game in case of crash or...

Slight increase to 355 playouts per second (1 thread, 61 stones per playout on average)
Which board size?

Re: playouts

I have just run a benchmark, and Crazy Stone does 4366.81 simulations per second on 19x19, from the empty starting position (Ryzen 7 5800X). This is with patterns and many advanced heuristics. So yes, your playouts are slow. Without heuristics, it may be around 10k per second. You must be doing some...

Re: opening book?

Starting from varied positions is important. Two games should be played from each starting position (swapping colors). If you maximize territory, then completely random positions are OK. Otherwise, if you maximize the probability of winning, then you should try to somehow select positions that are b...

Re: automated testing

Self-play is better than nothing if you have no opponents close to your strength. I did it a lot with Crazy Stone.

Re: opening book?

The only standardised format for Go is SGF. I am not aware of a standard way of hashing a Go board. Here is the 9x9 opening book I computed with Crazy Stone: https://www.crazy-sensei.com/book/go_9x9/ It handles transpositions into symmetries or rotations of the board. For this I needed a hash code t...

Thanks Yamashita san. Did you meet in Hakone? I want to visit Hakone again.
